Slow Food Hawai’i is teaming up with Alohi Polynesian Dance Academy! Kumu Lani Isaacs will be teaching a class on how to make lau lau from start to finish. We will clean all the leaves, ti and lu’au, cut the fillings into bite size pieces, and then wrap it all into perfect packets for steaming. While the lau lau are cooking (it takes about 3 hours) we will enjoy lunch and maybe even a little hula! Participants are welcome to head to the beach or run errands in town, then return to enjoy our delicious creations. (Bring wine!) Everyone will get to take some lau lau home, but most of it will be packaged and frozen for the Waipio Campout feast on August 18th.
This is a great opportunity to gather together, create and share a terrific meal and support Slow Food Hawaii and the students of this halau. Please join us by signing up at www.SlowFoodHawaii.org or call Clare at 936-6511.
